A sci-fi mystery from Apple TV+ turns quantum physics into a dark fairy tale

The Swedish actress Noomi Rapace plays astronaut Jo Ericsson in the Apple TV+ series "Constellation," whose stay aboard the International Space Station takes an unexpected and fatal turn. The incredibly talented Jo fights against insurmountable barriers to return to Earth and figure out why, once there, she feels so out of place. The narrative's emotional core and watchful conscience, however, belong to Jo's little daughter Alice, a serious young woman with an important name. She'll have to gaze through the looking glass to figure out what's wrong with her mother.
A person's worldview will undoubtedly shift after space flight. Only a select few people have experienced our planet's viewpoint in its 4.5 billion-year history, which is what astronauts see. The longer they float across the solar system, the more their experiences deviate from the typical human experience, and one would assume that this would make it more difficult to get in touch with loved ones who are on Earth. Earthly life is inextricably impacted by life in space.
